■RoHS Directive

Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment


In addition to lead, hexavalent Chromium, Cadmium, mercury, PBB, PBDE, four new elements; DEHP, BBP, DBP, DIBP will be restricted in electronic products in Europe as Hazardous substances by RoHS (10 substances in total.) .

【The legislation’s objective】
RoHS is a piece of legistlation to reduce the harmful effects of dangerous substances to people and the envirionment. The restricted materials are hazardous to the environment and pollute landfills, and are dangerous in terms of occupational exposure during manufacturing and recycling.

(Management Methods for Controlling Pollution by Electronic Information Products)

In July 1, 2016, a law for electrical and electric equipment was enacted which restricted use of harmful substances (lead and its compounds, hexavalent chrome and its compounds, cadmium and its compounds, mercury and its compounds, PBB, PBDE, and other harmful substances designated by the government). It stipulates "environment friendly use period mark" and "indication of harmful substances in products."
